Playing in a box

Last week we went to BJ's for our usual (diapers, formula, etc.) When we got home will doing some chores around the house, Evelyn entertained herself in the diaper box.

She smiled from the second she was put in the box.

8 Months

Evelyn is 8 months old today! WOW!

Stats:

Weight: 16.5 lbs (this is a guess using our scale at home)

Height: she wouldn't hold still long enough for me to measure her

Evelyn is doing all kinds of crazy things lately. She traveled on a plane for the first time and did great (thanks aunt Stacey for help). Sitting up is easy for her now and she has begun to crawl. This means that Evelyn is in to everything. She is using every tall item in the house to pull up to her knees. Won't be long before she can pull herself to a standing position (but if you put her in a standing position, she will hold on to the couch, ottoman, etc. and stand by herself).

Evelyn is still having bottles and stage one baby food. She's still sleeping through the night and taking 2 naps during the day (she has dropped the late evening cat nap). She is still in 3-6 month clothing but will be graduating to the next size very soon.

Monday, Evelyn got her first bruise. She was pulling up on the ottoman and bumped her head. It swelled up pretty big and I freaked out. I'm sure this is only the first of many. In fact, I think she has a bruise on her knee too. I'm not sure I'm ready for all of this :)

Trip to Discovery Place

On Tuesday, Kinetic Moms and their children went to Discovery Place. Evelyn had such a good time and now that she is crawling, there were plenty of things for her to do.

Since we met at 10am, Evelyn didn't really get a nap (about 20 minutes in the car). But those 20 mintues were enough for her to have fun for 3 whole hours at Discovery place before getting tired. Although Evelyn has a basic schedule each day, from the beginning we took Evelyn out of the house as many times as possible. This taught her to be flexible and now she will pretty much go anywhere we go and take naps when she can. I just love that she is flexible and will go with the flow.

As soon as I put her in the car to come home she fell asleep and took a long nap to make up for missing her morning nap.

I think next summer, we might need to get a membership to Discovery Place. I would love to go more often.

Balancing Baby

I'm finally getting this video up on the blog. This is something that Evelyn and her daddy do almost every day. She just loves it and usually laughs each time. Some of you have seen the video and some of you have been lucky to see this in person. I think we have a gymnast on our hands.

Working Girl

This week Evelyn decided she was going to help me with my work. She just loves my computer (but what can we expect from a kid who's dad is a computer geek and a mom who works from home on her computer all day).

(The computer is on our ottoman. Evelyn is standing and holding on all by her self. She is growing up to fast)

Anniversary Gift

Tuesday night, the Jacksons and us went to the John Mayer and Paramore concert. It was great to get out and relax after the crazy and unplanned weekend we had. The concert was a gift from my husband for our anniversary. On the 6th we celebrated 3 years of marriage. In October, we will celebrate 10 years of being together....wow does time fly by.

Thanks to the Jacksons for going to the concert with us. We had a wonderful time. Lets do it again sometime soon.

Evelyn is Crawling

Monday, after granddad Perkins funeral, Evelyn decided to surprise the entire Perkins clan. She started crawling. My little baby girl crawling 10 days before she turns 8 months...Amazing. Although I shouldn't be surprised....I was an early walker. Below is a small video of her crawling at granddad house (her great granddad).

Grilling Dinner

We are still in Utah and having so much fun. Each day, Evelyn gets her morning nap at home and then we go out for lunch. After lunch we do some activity (shopping) and then come home for the evening.

Each night we cook dinner at home and Evelyn decided to help. The picture below shows Evelyn eating the grill brush used to put marinade on our meat. This was her first time with a kitchen utensil and she wasn't sure about it.

Stacking Blocks

Before heading to Utah, I bought a new Fisher-Price Toy (Baby's First Blocks). This has turned out to be a wonderful toy and I highly recommend it.

Evelyn isn't quite old enough to put the blocks through the special holes on the top of the toy. But she loves to dump the bucket over and make a mess. But her most favorite thing is when mommy stacks the blocks. She concentrates very hard and tries to just take the top block off with out the stack falling. But it falls every time. First Airplane Ride

On Thursday, Evelyn had her first airplane ride. It was so much easier than I expected. With my sister helping, traveling to Utah went pretty smoothly. We checked in with 4 bags (one for me, one for Evelyn, one for Stacey, and the pack-n-play). Afterwards, we went through security and since we were traveling with a small child, we got to go in the quick line.

Through both airports we had the stroller and carseat but didn't buy a seat for Evelyn. Therefore she hung out in Stacey's and my lap. She slept most of the take-off and landings (which was great) and only was fussy when she got bored or tired. Below are a few pictures in the airport.

Happy Baby

Seven months old has turned out to be one of the best months so far. Most of the feeding issues are over (except that she will go meals with out eating alot, but were ok with that). She can sit up and hang out on her tummy to play. Mom and Dad don't have to always entertain her, for the most part she can entertain herself (yesssss!). And she seems to become a happy baby. Just like yesterday, we went to Kinetic Kids Group at Anne's and the only time she cried was wen she bonked her head (and she didn't even get a morning nap). It was awesome.

Last night, Evelyn got a visit from her Perkins grandparents. We all had so much fun hanging out, eating dinner, and trying to make Evelyn laugh. Below are some pictures that Sandra and I took last night.

Airplane Travel

I know I haven't posted in a while, sorry! Life has been kind of crazy around here. But I did want to post a quick note that Evelyn and I will be traveling by plane with my sister to Utah on Thursday. So if you have any suggestions on traveling on a plane with an infant....please let me know.
