6 Months!

Evelyn Jade Perkins is 6 months old. Wow, time flies by fast. Allot has happened in the pass couple of months.

Evelyn's Stats:

Hight: 25 3/4 inches

Weight: 14 pounds 7 ounces

Head Circumference: 42 1/2 centimeters

Evelyn is doing all kinds of new things lately. She can roll over from back to front and front to back. This is a big accomplishment for her since she has refused to lay on her tummy since she was born (this is due to her acid reflux). So she will even stay on her tummy for a few minutes and sometimes we even find her sleeping on ther tummy.

She is trying to sit up on her own and can do it for several seconds, but she usually falls over. Her favorite thing to do is sit on the floor with mom and play with toys or play in her excersaucer. We have a sassy jumpy seat thing that we will be introducing to Evelyn soon. Can't wait to see what she thinks about that.

Evelyn is talking up a storm and loves to squeal really loud. So far none of the talking makes any since but to her it does and I guess thats all that matters.

We will begin to adventure into new foods this week. Evelyn had some fruit last week because she was teething so bad and I was going crazy. This week we will actually try baby food...rice ceral first and then maybe some vegs. She already tries to hold the bottle, so it will be interesting to see if she wants to feed herself baby food too.

Peace of Mind

Some of you may not know that I'm a weather freak. I come from a line of weather freaks (My dad is always watching the weather channel...and I am too). When I was a little girl, my dad and I got stuck on the golf course during a very scary thunderstorm. Ever since that day, I have been very conscious about the weather around me.

Since the birth of our daughter, Daniel and I always check the weather before we go to bed. Daniel also warns me of the type of weather to expect for the day each morning whether it be a air quality alert or thunderstorms in the afternoon. Now that we have another life that depends on us, new fears arise such as weather issues.

After waking to thunderstorms a couple of weeks ago and learning the morning after that there were tornados that touched down not to far from our house, we decided we needed to do something to insure our safety. So my gaget crazy husband suggested a weather radio. At first I was skeptical because we have bought a weather radio before that didn't work. But I agreed with my husband and we bought a Midland weather radio.

This is by far the best "baby" purchase we have made. The night we turned it on Daniel had band practice. And guess what, the radio went off and we had severe storms that evening.

This week my husband has been in Kentucky playing bass guitar at a church camp. I can't even begin to discribe to you how relax I have been about the weather while he as been gone compared to other times he has been away. It's nice to know that if some bad storms or tornados are in the area, that I will be woken up and warned. One of my biggest fears as a mom is for something to happen to my daughter and not having the ability to help her. Mommy Trip

Hello everyone....sorry for not posting in a while. I went on a work/vacation trip and I'm finally settled back in.

Last week I left Charlotte on Monday to begin my work/vacation trip to Orlando. This was the first time that I have left Evelyn for longer than 4 hours at a time. Daniel's parents (Sandra and Clay) came into town to watch Evelyn during the day since she doesn't go to daycare and Daniel had to work. It sounds like they had a blast and that Evelyn was really good.

Monday afternoon I arrived in Orlando with the entire week planned for me. I work for a company called Culminis. If anyone doesn't know whom Culminis is, we are a not-for-profit company that works with user groups and are supported by Microsoft (http://www.culminis.com/). So yes, I sorta of work for Microsoft (they pay my pay check).

Anyways, Culminis each year has a booth in the Community area at Tech Ed. This is a very large event put on my Microsoft each year. This year there was over 9,000 participants. Want to know more....... http://www.microsoft.com/events/teched2008/itpro/default.mspx
So Tuesday though Friday I worked our booth at the convention center and attended the evening activities with my fellow workers.

Also, it just worked out to be the same week that my family was in Orlando as well. They were there to celebrate my sister just graduating from college and my cousin turning 21. Therefore, I stayed the weekend to hang out with them. Every evening we went to a Disney park and had a blast. Since we have two family members that work for Disney, the majority of us got in for free. That as a money saver since the parks cost around $75 now. Isn't that crazy.

So after a busy week and long weekend....I'm more tired than ever. Glad to be back home where life isn't so crazy and home with my little girl. Hope you all had a great week. Some pictures to come. :)

Family Dog

This post is for our special pup....Rusty. One October afternoon we went to Petsmart with the Jacksons to look at puppies. They Jackson's decided to adopt a family pup. The one they picked just so happened to have a brother that was there for adoption. After some convincing, we got the brother. So there we are with a new puppy....only 3 months into our marriage.....in a small apartment.....ahhhh. But it was one of the best decisions we have ever made. We just love him so much.

Its taken some time for Rusty to adjust to not being number one. He had been number one for so long and now he had to share his home with a new baby. But now he is adjusted and just loves Evelyn so much. I'm looking forward to watching our two babies grow up together.
