Evelyn will be 2 months on Feb 28 and I thought I should give a progress report.
Evelyn has a doctors appointment on Tuesday, but I'm pretty sure she is over 9 lbs. She still fits in some newborn clothing, but we have graduated to some 0-3 month clothing. She is still in newborn diapers...but rapidly growing out of them (yes...then I can save money and buy diapers at Costco).
After trying to put her on a schedule, I have decided to relax a little about that. I started with the Babywise stuff and found it interesting and helpful. But in the end, it didn't work so well for Evelyn. Due to how long it takes her little tummy to digest the formula, we had to push her feedings to every 4 hours and the Sleep-Eat-Wake cycle doesn't work for us right now. Maybe when she is a little older this cycle will work. But one big thing that I take away from Babywise and I don't feed my baby to sleep. Even though Babywise hasn't worked out for us so far, I would recommend it to anyone and continue to use alot of the principles that I have learned from the book.
Right now she usually goes down around 9pm and sleeps until 8am with only one feeding during the night (she has been doing the one feeding a night since we came home from the hospital :) but now she just sleeps longer). During the day Evelyn gets 4 feedings, which totals to 5 feedings in a 24 hour period. This has seemed to help with the projectile vomiting that we were getting with feeding her every 3 hours. Life is bliss without formula on everything you own :). We allow her to nap when ever she wants during the day and hope to put her naps on a schedule at around 3 months (doctors suggestion).
Currently, I'm reading The Happiest Baby on the Block. I have found it very helpful even though it talks alot about babies with colic. I would also recommend this book to any new mom. More to be posted about this book as I continue to read.
It's amazing how much a baby changes in 2 months. Evelyn has began to talk (well, make a lot of noises....we call it talking). Its so much fun to talk back to her and have a noise contest. She even looks at her mirror and talks to herself. Evelyn is also focusing on things more. She loves to watch the fish on Daniel's screensaver. But her favorite thing to do is to watch movies with daddy when he gets home from work. She especially likes Starwars (go figure!!).
Daniel and I are also doing great. The first month or so was pretty rough. Daniel is currently in a band and they went into the studio in Jan. to record some songs. This caused Daniel to be away from the house alot. But it was all worth it because their music is amazing. We have settled in to a daily routine and Daniel is so much help when he gets home from work.
I have gone back to work part time (25 hours a week) from home. I just started last Wednesday and its pretty tough to get all the hours in while taking care of Evelyn. But I'm sure as I do it more....it will get easier. I just love being home with her and not having to make the 45 minute to hour commute each day to work and back.
Thanks to everyone who reads my babbling. Keep checking the blog. Hopefully I will have some new pictures this week and of course...a 3 month birthday celebration.
Love you all!!

Hey Stephanie!
Thanks for sharing the update! I'm glad things are going well for you, Daniel, and Evelyn!
Like you, I tried the Babywise plan at first with Isaac, but it ended up not being ideal for us either, at least for now. Since I am breastfeeding, I had the opposite problem - the three hour schedule was keeping the feedings spaced too far apart and my milk supply waned. We had a lot of difficulty trying to get my supply up, so I gave up on the scheduling and went to "on demand" feeding, which is working much better for us. We're going to start working on getting a regular routine this month.
I am also glad you and Daniel are doing well! Things do get easier as time goes on and these little ones get to be so much fun!
Take care!
Betsy
